Finding Balance

Let’s talk real talk for a minute.

When you have fitness goals in mind staying on track with your exercise and healthy eating habits isn’t always a clean cut-easy peasy steam roll ahead path.

When you first start a fitness routine, you may be sticking to your nutrition plan working out regularly, and getting at least eight hours sleep a night. Let’s face it, there’s a novelty factor to it before we reach that discipline stage.

Aaaaaannd then life happens as it always, always will!! We don’t strive to become anti social because we have fitness as a priority! We may find ourselves at a friend’s party or an important social or work conference and presented with all sorts of highly palatable food /drink options that just haven’t been in the cards if a deficit has been in place.

Here’s where exerting self control and finding balance comes in. Enjoy a drink , enjoy your meal but know when it’s time to stop.

If a deficit is in order to reach our goals we don’t need to consume our meal and go way overboard afterwards as the evening ends; allowing that little inner voice the control to say, “ahhhh screw it, it’s only one day!”- and go 110% off the rails and opposite of our current goals.

Here, keeping in mind that question of “Is what I’m doing right now going to benefit me or hinder me?”

Focus on the company we are keeping. Enjoy the connection with our friends in that moment rather than hyper focusing on how much food we can eat.

Switch the focus from food to connections!

Is it easy? No!

It takes time to learn this balance and how to navigate social aspects when our goals may not line up to the event in question.

Pre-plan when you can. If you don’t have that option just make solid choices. It’s key to remember we don’t always remain in a deficit forever. There are many stages to our journeys depending on our goals! Don’t overcomplicate social events and if you don’t have a competition in the coming weeks don’t be that person that brings their food scale —I say this lightheartedly.

Life is meant to be enjoyed friends. Exercise control and you’ll find balance follows behind.

If you need help reach out today. I’d be honored to join you in your journey !!
